This is a quote from Elizabeth Rozin. Rozin is the food theorist who wrote the essay “Ketchup and the Collective Unconscious,” ketchup may well be “the only true culinary expression of the melting pot, and . . . its special and unprecedented ability to provide something for everyone makes it the Esperanto of cuisine.”
Now there is some food for thought...pun on purpose.
Editor's Note: If you make ketchup from scratch you will never go back to store brands. It is really simple to make.
12oz can of tomato paste
½ cup of sugar
1 cup apple vinegar
1 cup water
½ teaspoon onion power
½ teaspoon garlic powder
Cook of medium heat for 20 minutes
